ANOTHER new job.

So, I've turned down the photography sales job. I realized that right now, with everything that's happened, I just want to be close to me dear, beautiful baby.

I have my whole life (however long that life should be) to make money, but can only witness Elly growing up ONCE. So, I've turned it down. Instead, I've been interviewed, offered, and accepted a job with The Captioning Group, as a full-time captioner. I'm very excited, the pay is right, there is less travel (thank god) and the people seem equally nice. I start on Wednesday.

It has been a VERY stressful week. Between humming and haaing over which job to take, dealing with two of Elodie's front teeth coming in (not yet cut) and stressing over money, child care, the future, family, the house, the mess, and other various not-nice-ities, I finally feel somewhat calmer. I need chocolate.

I've also started a diet (again). I'm back on the South Beach Diet, but not cutting out carbs completely the first 2 weeks. My body just cannot handle it right now. I need my energy.

Last weekend, Mom took me to the spa for the day. It was quite nice. I had a manicure, a haircut (the girl did a VERY stellar job), and my makeup trial for the wedding. Next year, it will be my turn to take Mom there.

As far as knitting goes, I've been trying like a demon to finish that baby blankie. I'm determined to have it finished by the end of the month (fingers crossed) and then can work on the next big thing, a poncho for Melissa's daughter, Katey.

CURRENT WORK IN PROGRESSES:
1) Baby blankie (finish end of month -- hopefully)
2) Knit baby poncho (fair isle -- finish May 14 at the latest!)
3) Lace shawl (looking good! 1/4 finished -- complete by July)
4) Pea coat (finish by next winter)
5) 2 other baby blankies (omg)

I'm sure there are other WIPs that I'm not including in this list, but it's all just too much! I have to organize my craft room/office this weekend, I think, and make sure everything has its place.

Wish me luck!

The Massive Update Post

I've got a cup of tea, a bowl of popcorn and my pictures all ready to go. Here comes the update! This will NOT be chronological, but WILL have pictures :)

1. I caved and joined the "hip" crowd on Facebook.com. I had originally told myself that it wouldn't happen, but...all the requests for me to join made me feel special and I did. *sigh*

2. Easter was good. Carsten and his "friend" Marie came out the night before and we all watched a movie after dying some eggies.

Robbie had never dyed eggs before (what the juice?!) so I took his eggy v-card!! HAHAHA! I think they turned out pretty cool.

The next day, I prepared to turn this:

into a scruptious meal for 7 (8 if you include Elodie). I forgot to get an after picture, of course, but it turned out pretty good, considering I'd never cooked a ham before. We had green beans, baby herb and garlic potatoes, glazed ham with pineapple and cherries, orange candy yams, and lindt chocolate for dessert. The beans could have used a bit longer to cook and the yams were chunky (totally Robbie's fault), but everything else was good. Out of Gary, Darlene, Mom, Carsten, Marie, Robbie, Elodie and myself, nobody got sick, so I consider that a bonus.

3. I started working on the baby blankie again.

It's getting pretty darn long. I'm really loving the fabric, even though it was 6 skeins for 3 dollars at Walmart and absolutely NONE of it is a natural fibre. It's still pretty and soft.

4. I'm starting a new job. I'd applied at a buttload of places, but had really wanted this one, a competitive sales position based out of Calgary. It's going to involve a lot of travelling (staying overnight 3 days/week), but there is the potential to make an amazing amount of money and maybe pay off some of our debts. Elodie will be in capable hands with her Daddy. My friend Amber is going to watch her during the day.

5. My daughter is freaking cute.

It's going to be really tough to leave her during the week, but maybe this way, I can afford to give her the life I want for her.

I'm all emotional now, so I'm signing off. Later.

Me.

Another New Job

I know better than to try and write a coherent post on BSD, so I'm not even going to try. Let's just state that Madame Shiraz came to visit at our house tonight and I'm not in the highest state of soberness. In fact, I think I'm going to go crash in about...oh, two minutes.

I have a lot to tell you all about, but let me leave you hanging in suspense with these four words:

I. Got. Another. Job.

Yet another four words:

I. Bought. New. Clothes.

I'll explain more tomorrow when the fog clears.

It's beginning to look a lot like...WTH?

Um. Want to see what I woke up to this morning?

Nice, eh? In the last 3 days (since April began), Calgary has gotten more snow than all of last April. In fact, we've gotten 10 TIMES the amount of snow. Poor Apollo gets lost when he steps outside now. At least, that's what Robbie tells me. There's no way I'm stepping out.

I took the opportunity to work on my current obsession: A pretty lace shawl for Robbie's Nan White for her 85th birthday. I think I'm safe posting pictures, since I highly doubt she reads my blog (or knows what a blog is ;) ). I held it up to the window to accurately show off the stitch detail and got Robbie to snap a picture for me. My plan to amalgamate him into my ... hobby (obsession, nutso-job, etc) is going well.

The colour isn't exactly bang on in that picture. It's made from one of my recycled yarn yummies.
THIS ONE to be exact:

That's much closer to the actual colour. I hope she likes it.
The other projects have been put on hold momentarily (I SWEAR). I will finish one eventually. The baby blankie is on its 3rd skein and is looking very handsome indeed. I will get a picture up soon as I can.

In other news, I actually had a shower before 2:00 pm today, which was nice. Elodie is good. She's growing up so quickly. No words yet, but I don't doubt that they are soon to come. Wedding plans are pretty much done. We are registering and picking tuxes this weekend and may be meeting up with Torie and Alaina who are also getting hitched this summer.

And finally, I'd like to shout it out to Ellabella from both WB and Craftster. We just found out that we frequent the same boards today :)

Happy Easter, everybody!
